124.
We begin our Punter-U rendition with the one punter who was the best at Tennessee of the guys on the field and has since been the best in the NFL over a 10-year plus period now. Dustin Colquitt did his part in helping the Kansas City Chiefs pull out a huge road win against the Houston Texans for their opening game.

Yes, Jamal Charles, Alex Smith, and the offense played well. But in this 27-20 game, Colquitt played a huge role as well. He punted the ball seven times and had four punts inside the 20-yard line, and he also averaged 43.9 yards per punt while one punt went for 56 yards.

Colquitt’s punting set up Kansas City’s first touchdown, as he pinned a punt inside the seven-yard line, and right after that the Chiefs got an interception and the short field for a score.

In the second half, Colquitt had a 53-yard punt to reverse the field and give Houston the ball at the 18-yard line, forcing them to punt after that.

The only reason Colquitt’s average was not higher was because he had two punts from inside the Houston 45, one that was inside the 40. Both went for 37 yards, but one was the first punt.

Two punts for touchbacks were the only negatives by Colquitt in this game. Otherwise, he would have been the top punter on this list. But he was still awesome. His leg held off a Texans comeback, and for that, he gets to be on this list.
. Punter. Kansas City Chiefs. Dustin Colquitt. 4. player
