Punter. Miami Dolphins. Matt Darr. 3. player. 59.
While Dustin Colquitt was simply doing what Dustin Colquitt always does when he is asked to come in and secure victories, Matt Darr shocked the world. After just winning the punting job earlier this month, Darr came in and may have been the sole reason for the Miami Dolphins pulling out an ugly victory over the Washington Redskins.

Darr punted the ball just four times but averaged 54.3 yards per punt, nailed one inside the 20-yard line, and had a punt go for 63 yards. He was absolutely incredible his first game out as a starter, picking up where he left off in college when he had a dramatic improvement his final year at Tennessee.
<div class=

A big thing Darr did was reverse field position late in the game. Clinging to a 17-10 lead, the Dolphins had the ball on their own 22-yard line late in the fourth quarter, and Darr had a punt go 47 yards to the Washington 31-yard line that put the Redskins and their new starting quarterback in a rough situation.

Even Darr’s 63-yard punt came with the Redskins up 10-7, and his punt was the difference because it pinned the Redskins inside their own 20, and they were unable to move the ball despite all the momentum.

So Darr had a great coming out party, and now it is going to be extremely exciting to see what he can do for the Dolphins going forward. He clearly has made the Vols Punter-U when you put his performance up there with the Colquitts.

And doing it on the field only elevates him.
