45.
So there was indeed a Denver Broncos player who made this list of top former Vols who performed during NFL Week 1. But that player just happened to not be Peyton Manning. It was Britton Colquitt, another punter, and he was likely the best player on the football field outside of Aqib Talib on Sunday afternoon as the Broncos held on for a victory.

Colquitt had five punts for 259 yards, averaging 51.8 yards per punt, and he nailed two inside the 20-yard line while none of them went for touchbacks. That is a remarkable feat to accomplish, but it seemed like nothing for this veteran.

While Manning and the offense shockingly struggled against a very good football team, the defense was going to have to win against a very good offense as well. And the unit got tons of help from Colquitt throughout the game.

Colquitt’s first punt of the game was a problem, as it only went 35 yards and set up a Baltimore field goal. But he did not allow anything after that.

The second punt of the game for Colquitt went 50 yards and pinned Baltimore inside their own 20-yard line. Then he had a 55-yarder in the second half that also pinned them inside the 20, and those punts helped hold the Ravens to only three points on those drives combined.

Then came the killer, as he nailed a 62-yarder and another 55-yarder, keeping the Ravens deep in their own territory, which allowed for that Pick Six.

And that is what gave Denver the win.
. Punter. Denver Broncos. Britton Colquitt. 2. player
