At the same time, however, the Gamecocks and head coach Steve Spurrier have a heck of a lot to worry about. This football team has absolutely no consistency at quarterback whatsoever, and outside of generating turnovers in the first game against the North Carolina Tar Heels, the defense is nowhere to be found either.

Spurrier’s team looks like the ones before they got on the four-year run from 2010 to 2013, which will make people start to grow concerned again that his time in coaching college football is starting to run out.

A home game against the UCF Knights this week should be a chance to correct things, but just after that is a road trip to Missouri before the LSU Tigers come to town.

Texas A&M, Tennessee, Florida, and Clemson are also down the road, so if they want to go bowling, they will need to pick off a couple of upsets this year.

With the way it has played through three games, the team is already in serious trouble, and there are plenty of reasons to be concerned about the future. But fortunately for them, we aren’t ready to put them too far in the bottom echelon just yet.

S. Carolina Gamecocks 1-2 (0-2)

Last week: Lost to Georgia Bulldogs 52-20
Last rank: 11

The only reason the South Carolina Gamecocks are not below the Auburn Tigers at 1-2 for the No. 12 spot in these SEC Power Rankings is because they have at least lost two games to decent football programs and have a solid win against a decent football program. South Carolina’s loss to Kentucky is more impressive than Auburn’s win over Jacksonville State.

And their losses this past weekend hold the same weight.
