5. 2006: Tennessee Wins 51-33
This was a historic day for Vols fans everywhere.
At the time, Tennessee was 4-1 with the effects of the elating win over the Cal Goldern Bears in the opener fading away after they looked horrible in two other non-conference games and lost to the Florida Gators.

Georgia, meanwhile, was undefeated in a rebuilding season and looking ugly in all of their wins. As a result, despite playing the game at home and Mark Richt’s 4-1 record against Tennessee at the time, the line favored Tennessee.
That did not look good early, though, as Georgia had jumped out to a 24-7 lead over the Vols with a punt return for a touchdown and three scoring drives led by Joe Tereshinski III.
Tennessee cut it to 24-14 at halftime, and in the halftime interview Phil Fulmer famously said, “I don’t know if they can stop us, but we can’t stop them.”
Thanks to two interceptions in the second half, the Vols fought back and took a 31-27 in the fourth quarter. But that is when things got extremely interesting.
Tennessee blocked a Georgia punt for a touchdown on the next drive. Georgia responded by returning the kickoff for another touchdown. But two more touchdown drives by Tennessee gave the Vols a 51-33 victory, making them only the second team in history to hang 50 in Athens.
The result of the game was Fulmer getting the gatorade shower, as at the time this win felt like a huge relief given that the Vols were just coming off of a 5-6 season.
