5. Tennessee Has Found Momentum and is Coming off of a Bye Week

After all of the expectations and hype at the beginning of the year, the Tennessee Vols looked ready to roll over and die once they fell to 2-3.

The loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks signified that this team was done.

But out of the blue they came back the next week and upset the Georgia Bulldogs after being down 24-3. That win going into a bye week could not have come at a better time.

Despite a 3-3 record, Vols fans found some hope, and after the way they played, they could rest on it for two weeks. Butch Jones, Mike DeBord, John Jancek, and the rest of the staff have had a hyped up football team go through two weeks of preparation for the Tide.

And despite the hype, you know they do not have to worry about being over-confident going into Saturday’s game. After all, they’re an unranked team on the road against Alabama.

  • Still, the proper amount of momentum for a very good football team combined with two weeks to prepare for a big football game is a deadly combination.

That is what the Tennessee Vols have going into Saturday’s game in Tuscaloosa.

Remember, this team should be 6-0, and they should have beaten Florida on the road, which was a week before the Gators blew out Ole Miss, who beat Alabama. So it’s not beyond the pale to expect Tennessee to be able to play Alabama tough.
