3A. Tennessee: Turn Up the Running Game
Joshua Dobbs is once again a part of this, so it is kind of similar to the second key for the Vols. But it is crucial that they do this to torch Kentucky’s defense.
Remember, the Wildcats’ biggest issues are facing dual-threat quarterbacks on defense, meaning they have issues stopping a balanced attack overall. So Butch Jones and Mike DeBord need to mix it up as much as possible with Dobbs and the running backs.
Jalen Hurd and Alvin Kamara should total around 30 carries, and Dobbs should have another 10 more in addition to 25 passes. If they are truly to be an offense based on tempo, it’s hard to argue against the idea that they are able to run that many plays in a game.
Jones has not shown much of that tempo so far this year or since he has been at Tennessee. This is the perfect time to do it, and using a power rushing attack will allow the Vols to step on the throats of the Wildcats.
The goal needs to be more than 200 yards on the ground between Hurd, Kamara, and Dobbs. There is no reason to believe that they cannot do that given the history of Kentucky’s defense.

After the way they struggled against the rushing attacks of Mississippi State and Auburn over the past two weeks, Tennessee should easily be able to do the same thing.
And with their running backs they should have an easier time doing it. Consider that Hurd had 118 yards on them last year even with what Dobbs did. He should torch the Wildcats this year. But believe it or not, things aren’t much different for Kentucky.
