4. Robert Hubbs III Will Have a Breakout Year
In his freshman season under Cuonzo Martin, Robert Hubbs III went down for the year due to injury. In his sophomore year, he was decent but still had to recuperate.
This year, though, is the year that the former five-star on Rivals has to step up.
A junior in the program, Hubbs has learned three different systems, and this one should be the easiest of all to manage. The 6’4″ shooting guard has the potential to be better than Scotty Hopson if he can get in the right condition.
His numbers from the field have been atrocious since he was introduced to college basketball, but despite only averaging just over seven points per game last year, he reached double figures in three of the last four games for the Vols.

A larger role and higher expectations should set him up for success this year, so we are looking for 15 points per game from Hubbs and a couple of steals from him on defense as well.
Fully healthy, he should finally live up to his freshman year billing. The first step, however, has got to be shooting at least 45 percent from the field. If he can do that and get his three-point percentage to 35 percent, Hubbs will be the star the Vols need him to be.
Kevin Punter and Armani Moore can be nice mismatch players that are a perfect fit for Barnes’s up-tempo style of offense, but it is Hubbs who needs to be the face of the team. But speaking of Punter…
