Butch Jones and the Vols added another player to their 2016 recruiting class on Monday, as offensive lineman Marcus Tatum announced his commitment to Tennessee.
Tatum is a 6’6″/255 lb three-star offensive tackle from Daytona Beach, FL (Mainland). 247Sports rates him as the 85th best player in the state of Florida and the 63rd best offensive tackle in the nation.
There’s no doubt that the addition of tight ends coach Larry Scott (who has strong Florida ties) certainly helped secure Tatum’s commitment, but the Florida native was already highly interested in Tennessee before Scott was hired by Jones.
Tatum visited Tennessee’s bowl game practice in Tampa on December 28.
And speaking of Scott, he had quite the reaction to Tatum’s commitment.
Tatum does have official visits to Florida and Miami scheduled this month.
