Louisiana Tech Women’s Basketball Coach Tyler Summitt, son of former Tennessee Lady Vols coach Pat Summitt, resigned due to an inappropriate relationship.

After just two years as a head coach of the Lady Techsters and hoping to follow in his legendary mother’s footsteps, Tyler Summitt has resigned.

Summitt admitted to an “inappropriate relationship,” according to a report from The Tennessean. Here is a quote from the story.

"“I am profoundly disappointed in myself for engaging in a relationship that has negatively affected the people I love, respect and care about the most.”"

Clearly, this inappropriate relationship is more scandalous than it is on the surface, and more details will come out. That is based on the following quote he gave.

"“My hope, plans and prayers are to repair those relationships. I am appreciative of the opportunity I was given to coach at Louisiana Tech. I am heartbroken that my time has ended in Ruston, but because of my respect for the institution, it is best that I resign. I am hopeful the media and the public will respect the privacy of my family and me as we deal with this difficult situation I have caused.”"

Difficult situation he caused? Respect the privacy of his family as they deal with it? Disappointed in himself for engaging in such a relationship?

We all know how this works. More is going to come out of this.

Summitt, a Tennessee graduate, married to his high school girlfriend, AnDe Ragsdale, in 2013. He was hired by Louisiana Tech in 2014.

Despite a 30-31 record and a 14-16 record this year, Summitt appeared to be changing the culture in Ruston. Well, perhaps he was changing the culture in more ways than one.

What happens next for Summitt’s future is unclear. But it goes without saying that his past is not over yet. More stories from this are bound to come out.
