2. The Sex Assault Lawsuit is still looming

When this news first broke back in the Winter, it was not clear where this would go. Things even took a more dramatic turn when Peyton Manning’s old scandal was rehashed because of this lawsuit and when all of the details were released following that.

Well, although the news died down after a while, the lawsuit has still not gone away. That showed last week with the news that the Knoxville Police Department contacted Butch Jones about one of the incidents.

Whatever went on behind the scenes in this incident is still completely up for speculation, and at All for Tennessee we have made a very clear point not to demonize anybody involved given the fact that we simply do not have all of the facts as to what happened.

However, an undeniable fact is that this is in the public eye, and fair or not, it will continue to serve as a distraction for the football team into the summer. That creates major issues for a program trying to evolve into a national title contending team.

Tennessee’s players are just learning how to win and develop mental toughness. Dealing with outside distractions is another wrench in the process that many teams should not have to deal with, but if the Vols brought this on themselves, than the program can’t blame anybody for it. And Butch Jones certainly can’t.

Still, there’s no denying that could affect play on the field. And speaking of on the field, here is the one big football concern.
