A new basketball player for the Tennessee Vols, an All-American football recruit, and a tennis award headline the news on Rocky Top for Tuesday, May 10.

Good morning Vol Nation!

The Big Orange Caravan is continuing across the state of Tennessee with a scheduled stop in Nashville for today.

While the coaches continue to promote the program, football and basketball coaches are still spending time out on the recruiting trail. But basketball at least might be drawing to a close.

And it’s also time to give some love to other athletes with the university. Let’s first look at some good news for Tennessee basketball.

Vols Basketball adds former Utah State forward Lew Evans – The Salt Lake Tribune

"Evans, a 6-foot-9 forward, has one year of college eligibility remaining. Last season, he averaged 8.4 points and 5.6 rebounds in 21 minutes a game for the Aggies. At Tennessee, Evans will play for coach Rick Barnes, who is starting his second season in Knoxville."

Tennessee football 2018 commit Cade Mays is an Army All-American – Barton Simmons of 247Sports

"Ranked as the No. 3 offensive tackle in the country according to 247Sports in the class of 2018, Mays joins a small, select group of sophomores that have already earned an invite to the prestigious Army Bowl. A dominant sophomore season, followed by a strong spring made his invitation a no-brainer."

Vols tennis freshman Sadie Hammond named regional rookie of the year – UTSports

"Hammond has already been named second-team All-SEC, made the SEC All-Freshman team and qualified to compete in the 2016 NCAA Singles Championships. She is the first person to receive the award since junior Eve Repic won it in 2014.“I’m so grateful and humbled to have received so many awards and recognitions this season,” Hammond said. “It’s rewarding to have my hard work acknowledged and valued by the conferences and committees. Being recognized makes me even more motivated to reach for bigger things and achieve my goals.”"
