Today on Rocky Top: Jalen Hurd Speed, No. 2 Corner Spot, Satellite Camps

Jalen Hurd showing off, Tennessee Vols satellite camps, and the cornerback position headline the news on Rocky Top for Wednesday, May 11.

Happy Hump Day! Good morning to everybody in Vol Nation.

First, there is a bit of good news as the baseball team got back on track with a win…against Belmont. Okay, so that means absolutely nothing and Dave Serrano should still be fired at the end of the year.

But it was a nice bit of rare success we saw from the baseball Vols.

Onto news for Wednesday, it’s all football. Butch Jones is going across the state and has now brought up satellite camps himself while also talking about competition at one of the positions spots.

And Jalen Hurd continues to show off. Let’s start with the hot-button topic that nobody cares about: satellite camps.

Vols to hold satellite camp at Tennessee State – Mike Organ of The Tennessean

"Tennessee football coach Butch Jones announced Tuesday the Vols “have joined the satellite camp parade,” and will have a camp for Midstate-area high school players at Tennessee State.Jones and his staff will instruct the camp on June 5 at TSU’s Hale Stadium and indoor facility."

Butch Jones says No. 2 corner spot still open – Wes Rucker of 247Sports

"Everyone knows senior star Cameron Sutton is Sharpied into the top cornerback spot for a fourth consecutive season, but the battle for his first-string bookend apparently isn’t settled.“You can never have enough depth, as we all know, across the board, and we have to have some individuals step up,” Jones told the crowd. “We need to find who our No. 2 corner’s gonna be. That individual has not emerged yet."

Vols running back Jalen Hurd shows off his speed on a treadmill – Chip Patterson of CBS Sports

"This video shows Hurd running on a treadmill at 23.1 miles per hour. He stumbles a bit and maintains pace only for a quick burst, but it’s still wildly impressive for someone who checks in at 6-foot-4, 240 pounds on the official roster."
