Dave Serrano back, a post-spring analysis on the football program, and track and field highlight the Vols’ news on Rocky Top for Friday, May 27.

Happy Friday to everybody! The final Friday in May of 2016 has lots of updates when it comes to Tennessee Vols athletics, from baseball to football to track and field.

Football season is now less than 100 days away, which is incredibly exciting for everybody in Vol Nation and at many other schools. Tennessee is also seeing some success in other sports right now as this athletic year has not drawn to an end.

But let’s start with the baseball news from Thursday about Dave Serrano being retained as head coach.

Dave Serrano ‘grateful’ to remain at Tennessee – Wes Rucker of 247Sports

"“I’m just very grateful. I’m very grateful to be here. This is the only place I want to be. And I’m grateful for the support I’ve had out there, from the fans, from friends. I’ve gotten many, many positive text messages, phone calls from people that are supporters of this program that have a lot of faith in me to continue to lead this program. Nobody out there wants this program to be successful for all the right reasons — not for me, but for all the right reasons — than I do.”"

Tennessee Football post-spring breakdown – Edward Aschoff of 247Sports

"The pressure is on over at Rocky Top. If not now, then when for the Vols? This is the season most are circling as Tennessee’s time to win the SEC East again. That hasn’t happened since 2007, which was also the last time the Vols won at least 10 games. Coach Butch Jones has seen his win total increase by two games in each of the last two seasons, and he has 18 starters coming back."

Three Vols advance to Track and Field NCAA Championships – UTSports

"Chelsea Blaase, Jake Blankenship and Maria Jimenez advanced to next month’s NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., in the women’s 10,000 meters, men’s pole vault and women’s javelin, respectively, on Thursday at the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round at Hodges Stadium."
