A bunch of love for Tennessee football headlines the news for the Vols on Rocky Top for Friday, July 8, 2015.

We can’t really say Happy Friday to you all today.

This has been a very rough week for our country, as people have been forced to be pigeon-holed into one side of a serious argument, festering uncontrollable anger that has led to disastrous loss of life.

All I can ask is that cooler heads prevail. Instead of angry hashtags on social media, we need to analyze statistics and try to support ways to come up with real solutions to these issues facing our country.

There’s no right way to transition from the horrible tragedy in Dallas to sports except to say we hope to provide you with an escape.

So here we go.

There’s been nothing but good news continuing for Tennessee Football this week. More individual recognition has come for players, and the media hype behind the Vols continues.

But we start with another postseason award watch.

Tennessee punter Trevor Daniel is named to Ray Guy Watch List – Wes Rucker of 247Sports

"A 6-foot-1, 248-pound junior from Nashville-area Dickson, Tenn., Daniel emerged as the surprise winner of the first-team job last season and become one of the nation’s best punters. The walk-on averaged 45.7 yards per punt on 60 attempts last season."

Five reasons the Vols can win the SEC Title – Mike Griffith Podcast on SECCountry

"Tennessee is a popular pick to win the SEC East division for several reasons, and five of them are highlighted in this week’s edition of The Mike Griffith Show.Tennessee hasn’t beaten a top 10 team since 2006, and the Vols haven’t played in the SEC championship game since 2007, but it’s a good bet those things will no longer hold true after this season, and momentum has much to do with it."

"VFLs Tavis Bailey and Justin Gatlin advanced on Day 6 of the U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials at Hayward Field.Bailey recorded the No. 6 throw in the men’s discus qualifying round, reaching 60.17 meters (197-5) on his third try.Gatlin, who is already on Team USA for the 100 meters, qualified for Friday’s 200-meter semifinals after running the eighth-fastest time in the first round. Gatlin finished second in Heat 5 with a time of 20.32 (+0.9)."
