Just a day after Butch Jones secured two huge defensive tackle commitments, the Tennessee Vols continued to make a splash in recruiting by picking up a commitment from a four-star all-purpose back out of Florida.

Larry Scott’s addition to the staff pays off once again.

Athlete C.J. Cotman, a 5’10” 175-pound back out of Central Catholic, is another player out of Clearwater, Fla. to now commit to Tennessee.

Cotman announced his commitment on Twitter Wednesday night.

The one scary part is that he said his recruitment process is still open, but technically that’s true for all commitments this week.

Cotman’s commitment helps secure the Vols at running back for the future, something that Butch Jones knew he needed to do. With this commitment, he appears to have Alvin Kamara’s replacement for the future.

An athlete who plays in the backfield and at cornerback on defense, Cotman has amazing straight line speed.

You can see his highlights here.

Whether or not that speed fully translates to the next level is always up for debate, but Jones’s history of being a great talent-evaluator suggests he will.

More than 30 schools were going after Cotman, including Notre Dame, North Carolina, Ole Miss, and even Ohio State.

Make no mistake, this is a huge pickup for the Vols. What was already a Top 10 recruiting class is likely to even go up now.

And when the new evaluations are done, they could get even better. So this is another great recruiting day for Vol Nation.
