Tennessee Football: Vols Set to Begin 2016 Preseason Monday, Aug. 1

Tennessee football is set to get ready for the 2016 season. The Volunteers will begin their preseason schedule on Monday, August 1.

College football fans feel the same way about the start of Fall Camp that kids feel about the start of the Christmas season. The Media Days draw the same excitement that Thanksgiving break does for them.

And the beginning of the preseason is like the start of December.

So for Tennessee football fans, the excitement rivaled only by the holiday season begins next Monday. The Vols are set to begin their preseason for 2016 with a practice on the evening of Monday, Aug. 1, according to 247Sports online.

The Vols will hold 16 practices between the start of camp on Monday and Friday, Aug. 19, which will be just under two weeks until the start of football season on Sept. 1 against Appalachian State.

The only days they will be off are Friday, Aug. 5, Monday, Aug. 8, and Wednesday, Aug. 17.

There is lots of excitement about the start of preseason practice, including the return of guys who were out in the spring like Jalen Reeves-Maybin and the guys who were out last year like Rashaan Gaulden.

Also, this will be the first chance Vol Nation has to look at the newcomers from the 2016 Tennessee football recruiting class.

If you need anymore excitement to get ready for the 2016 season, UTSports officially released the 2016 digital fan guide on its website.

That’s right, football season continues to get closer and closer.

And everybody in Knoxville and beyond can feel it.
