The 2016 Tennessee football schedule and expectations along with Pat Summitt news lead the Vols headlines on Rocky Top for Thursday, July 28.

The weekend is almost here. As the Democratic Convention draws to a close, finally ending the political conventions of the past two weeks, the presidential election season begins. So get ready for an onslaught of ads, unnecessary news reports, and annoying Facebook posts from that uncle that you want to respond to but choose not to in order to avoid family tension.

Don’t we all just love elections?

Well, at least football season being right around the corner is coinciding with it. Tennessee Volunteers fans care about that more than anything else, and we are now barely a month away from the season opener.

More preseason hype continues with the Vols news today along with an analysis of the Tennessee football schedule. But we begin with an extension of the recent tragic news on Rocky Top.

Late Lady Vols Coach Pat Summitt’s lake house up for sale – John North of WBIR

"The sprawling home where the late legendary basketball coach Pat Summitt lived and entertained is listed for sale at $1.225 million. The house sits on a private cul de sac at 3720 River Trace Lane off Alcoa Highway in Blount County."

Tennessee Football: Vols not dwelling on high expectations – Ryan Callahan of 247Sports

"Reporters attending SEC Media Day earlier this month in Hoover, Ala., chose Tennessee as the preseason favorite to win the SEC East, but Vols senior cornerback Cameron Sutton said this week that there’s “not really a different feeling” for him and his teammates going into this season. The bar might be set high for Tennessee, but Sutton said the Vols aren’t getting ahead of themselves going into their most anticipated season in more than a decade."

Games that could ruin the 2016 Tennessee football season – Brad Shepard of Bleacher Report

"The Vols may not have a tough schedule, but that doesn’t mean it’ll be a parade down Interstate 75 to Atlanta. They may just have the toughest four-game stretch of anybody in the league—that would be the gauntlet from Sept. 24 to Oct. 15 which includes road trips to Georgia and Texas A&M sandwiched between home games against Florida and Alabama without a bye week."
