It’s all Tennessee football on Friday, July 29 with Joshua Dobbs, a former Vols star in the NFL, and recruiting headlining the updates on Rocky Top.

Happy Friday everybody. The Republican and Democratic Conventions are finally over, and election season has begun. As you get set to watch football games and preseason, enjoy an onslaught of ads over the next three months.

But still, football season is coming, and today’s news about the Vols exclusively surrounds football.

The Tennessee Volunteers fan base continues to get more and more excited, perhaps even more excited than they should be without any proof on the field, but that’s the beauty of preseason. Everybody’s undefeated.

Anyway, let’s take a look at the news on Rocky Top for today.

Joshua Dobbs named to CFPA National Performer of the Year watch list – Luke Slabaugh of WBIR

"Dobbs is one of 32 players on the list, and one of 22 quarterbacks. Alabama running back Derrick Henry won the award in 2015. The CFPA uses statistical analysis to determine which player increased the overall effectiveness of his team.Dobbs has also made preseason watch lists for the Walter Camp Player of the Year award, the Maxwell Award, the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award and the Wuerffel Trophy."

Eric Berry could miss all of NFL Preseason – Nick Cole of SEC Country

"Since there was no longer-term contract signed with the franchise that drafted him No. 5 overall in 2010, that franchise tag money is guaranteed without penalty. And since the deadline to sign a franchise tagged player to a long-term contract passed on July 15 without Berry and the Chiefs reaching a deal, Kansas City has little leverage to bring him back into the fold on anything but his own timetable.“Whatever way you cut it, Eric Berry is a great football player, and good things are going to happen to him here,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said, according to ESPN’s Adam Caplan. “I know how he’s wired. He loves to play the game. That’s how it is."

Vols offer Texas A&M commitment Devin Morris – Ryan Callahan of 247Sports

"The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Morris has been committed to Texas A&M since January. He holds offers from nearly 20 schools, including Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Michigan State, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Stanford and Wisconsin. He’s ranked the nation’s No. 552 overall prospect and No. 58 cornerback in the 247Sports Composite for the 2017 class."
