Former Tennessee football Volunteers player and Oakland Raiders General Manager Reggie McKenzie signed a four-year contract extension with the NFL team.

He was probably a year away from getting fired back in 2014, but former Tennessee football offensive lineman Reggie McKenzie is now a star general manager for the Oakland Raiders. It looks like his tutelage under Ted Thompson with the Green Bay Packers has indeed finally paid off.

Although they haven’t yet made the playoffs under him, the Raiders signed McKenzie to a four-year extension that will keep him with the franchise through 2020, according to a report on ESPN.

McKenzie has sold owner Mark Davis on him with his draft moves like the picks of Derek Carr, Kahlil Mack, and Amari Cooper along with the hiring of Jack Del Rio as head coach.

A 7-9 record last year showed marked improvement with the team, and their expectations are even higher now.

McKenzie’s son, Vols star defensive tackle Kahlil McKenzie, showed his support for his father on Twitter with the extension.

Of course, the Kansas City Chiefs and San Diego Chargers are both in this division along with the Super Bowl Champion Denver Broncos, so this is still an extremely tough division. But management is clearly excited about what McKenzie has built.
