Tennessee football’s second practice, Dave Hart speaking out, and the Vols in the all-time AP Poll headline the news on Rocky Top for Wednesday, Aug. 3.

It is the first hump day in August of 2016 and the first hump day since the start of preseason camp for this year’s Tennessee Volunteers football team.

So what an exciting hump day it is!

As we get deeper into the long, waiting period that is known as the month of August for college football fans, news about Tennessee football continues to dominate headlines on Rocky Top. The same holds true for today, but there is also a comment from Dave Hart about recent issues the university has faced.

Let’s start with the football news.

Offense shines in Vols second practice – John Brice of 247Sports

"Tennessee’s second session of preseason camp was punctuated by some early one-on-one battles, which saw the Vols’ offense — specifically the quarterbacks and wideouts — dominate their defensive counterparts. The battles opened with freshman quarterback Jarrett Guarantano driving a well-thrown, well-placed dagger to fellow rookie Brandon Johnson."

Tennessee AD Dave Hart wants school to lead in addressing sexual assault – ESPN.com

"Tennessee athletic director Dave Hart wants the school to play a leading role in addressing sexual assault after the recent settlement of a Title IX lawsuit filed against the university. The school agreed last month to pay $2.48 million to settle a lawsuit filed in February by eight unidentified women who said the university created a “hostile sexual environment” through a policy of indifference toward assault complaints against athletes."

How Vols were No. 14 in the all-time AP Top 100Dustin Dopirak of the Knoxville News Sentinel

"The top 100 was not itself a poll, but a ranking generated through a formula based on each program’s performance in the AP poll since it was initiated in 1936.Each team got a point for every appearance in the poll, which is released weekly throughout the season. Each team got two points for every week in which it was ranked No. 1, and each team that earned an AP national championship got a 10-point bonus."
