Football news including uniforms, an AP Poll ranking, and depth chart info headline the Tennessee Vols updates on Rocky Top for Monday, Aug. 22, 2016.

Happy Monday everybody. The Olympics are over, and it is now time to focus solely on the start of football season on Rocky Top.

Of course, there is baseball season and the presidential election going on, but this time of year for baseball only matters if your team is good, and the election is already getting tiresome.

Tennessee football is the news of the day, and there are lots of updates to get to there. From a new ranking to new uniforms to practice reports, the Vols are getting fans more and more excited by the second.

And with the start of the season just a week and three days away for the boys in orange, fans are beginning to foam at the mouth.

Let’s take a look at the news of the day to prepare us for it.

"The Virginia Tech Hokies may choose to deviate from their standard maroon and orange-trimmed uniforms for their showdown with the ninth-ranked Tennessee Vols, but that doesn’t mean Tennessee will alter its traditional approach.Speaking Sunday night on The Nation, retiring University of Tennessee Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics Dave Hart confirmed the Vols’ uniform choice for their second game of the season — the much-hyped, long-in-the-works Battle at Bristol on the infield of Bristol Motor Speedway."

"It’s possible no Tennessee football player helped himself more in the first preseason scrimmage than freshman safety Nigel Warrior. If coaches had any reservations about Warrior’s natural ability, the son of former Volunteers star Dale Carter removed them with his performance."

Colton Jumper leads battle for backup linebacker job – Ryan Callahan of 247Sports

"After opening last season as the Vols’ starting Mike linebacker, Jumper once again has impressed Tennessee’s coaches this year by having “a good camp” and being “our most consistent performer” at the position behind Kirkland, first-year defensive coordinator Bob Shoop said.Shoop indicated that Jumper currently is “ahead of” redshirt sophomore Gavin Bryant and freshman Daniel Bituli in the battle to be Kirkland’s primary backup."
