Tennessee football fans have been waiting for the start of 2016. The Appalachian State Mountaineers message boards have a few thoughts on the Volunteers.
With just days to go before opening night of the 2016 college football season, talks of the Tennessee and Appalachian State game grows.
Of course Volnation is always booming with constant topics of football talk. The Appalachian State message boards are the opposite.
Granted the App State fan base is much smaller than Tennessee’s, but there seems to be more talk about their week three game with Miami, FL. The Hurricanes travel to Boone, North Carolina, on Sept 17.
Of the threads on the Tennessee game, most Mountaineer fans just want to see their team compete. They feel like Tennessee is the “real deal” this year, but some feel as if they are overrated.
Just because they think Tennessee will not live up to the hype doesn’t mean they expect an App State win.
As most teams will, the Mountaineer faithful fear the rushing attack of Josh Dobbs, Jalen Hurd and Alvin Kamara. Some of them have watched the 2015 Outback Bowl against Northwestern and believe the tempo Tennessee plays with will be tough to stop.
Nonetheless, App State fans are excited to travel west to Neyland Stadium in what should be an ecstatic atmosphere.
Like I said earlier, a few fans believe App State can repeat their historic upset of Michigan in 2007.
All of that will be settled Thursday, Sept 1 on Shield-Watkins Field in front of 102,455.
