The workhorse for Tennessee football once again remained the workhorse. Amidst all the big plays, all the momentum, all the great play-calling, Jalen Hurd had his Eddie George-like performance. He wore down the Florida defense in the second half.

That resulted in Joshua Dobbs having more time to throw the ball, the receivers having more time to get open, and Mike DeBord being able to keep them on their heels.

Hurd finished the game with only 95 yards rushing on 26 carries, but it was a hard-fought 95 yards. Even when he only gained one or two yards, he still tired out the defense.

After all of Quincy Wilson’s talk about ducks pulling trucks, Hurd was the truck in this game. Oh, and there is kind of this one crucial play that only adds to his performance on Saturday.

With Tennessee desperately trying to get some momentum, Hurd was the first player to get things going by perfectly executing a Mike DeBord play call. He caught a 23-yard touchdown pass from Dobbs out of the backfield to get the crowd back in it.

So Hurd was not only the workhorse, but he was the game-changer. That play got the crowd and the players right back in it, and they never let up. For that, Hurd is once again on this list.
