Tennessee football fans are psyched about their position in the Southeastern Conference. Here are the Volunteers’ prospects in post Week 5 SEC Standings.
The Tennessee Vols came out a clear winner in the SEC Standings following Week Five of the college football season.
Fans on Rocky Top are ecstatic about their prospects of going to Atlanta after their 34-31 Hail Mary victory on the road against the Georgia Bulldogs. They have now beaten the two toughest teams in the SEC East.
And even if they lose the next two games, against the two undefeated teams left in the conference, the Vols would only need Florida to lose one more SEC game and the run the table with their easy schedule down the stretch following their game against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Essentially, they are now playing with house money. That’s the benefit of playing in the easy Eastern division of this conference.
Anyway, here are the updated SEC standings following Week Five of the 2016 college football season.
SEC East
- Tennessee: 2-0, 5-0
- Florida: 2-1, 4-1
- Georgia: 1-2, 3-2
- Kentucky: 1-2, 2-3
- South Carolina: 1-3, 2-3
- Missouri: 0-2, 2-3
- Vanderbilt: 0-2, 2-3
SEC West
- Texas A&M: 3-0, 5-0
- Alabama: 2-0, 5-0
- Auburn: 1-1, 3-2
- LSU: 2-1, 3-2
- Mississippi State: 1-1, 2-2
- Ole Miss: 1-1, 3-2
- Arkansas: 0-1, 4-1
Not only is Tennessee undefeated and in the driver’s seat of the SEC East. But the Vols also have a great chance to start the College Football Playoff talk. If they just split the next two games against the Texas A&M Aggies and the Alabama Crimson Tide, they’ll almost surely finish the year 11-1
On top of that, Georgia, Virginia Tech, Florida, and either Alabama or Texas A&M could be huge quality wins.
This team is in great shape and playing with house money. The Vols have to be psyched about where they are in the SEC standings right now. And the year could only get better over the next couple of weeks.
