Tennessee football injuries and conditioning before Texas A&M along with soccer news headline the Volunteers updates on Rocky Top for Friday, Oct. 7, 2016.

Happy Friday to everybody on Rocky Top! At 5-0, the Tennessee Vols are about to take on the Texas A&M Aggies with a great chance to move to 6-0…and open up an entire world of possibilities.

However, ahead of that, there’s not some great news for the football program that we have to get to. At the same time, there is a broader assessment of Tennessee football we want to get to.

We also have some soccer news to get to.

But mostly Tennessee fans are excited about the chance for a big road win on Saturday, as that’s their only focus at this point.

So that’s what will start with again today.

Sources say Jalen Hurd to miss Texas A&M game – John Brice of 247Sports

"Butch Jones remains non-committal on the status of his star tailback, but all signs and sources point to the inevitable.247Sports has been told that Jalen Hurd was not a participant at practice/walkthrough Thursday and is not expected to play this week. Indications are that it is not a lower-extremity injury nor is he being benched or in the doghouse. No one wants to say but it’s been indicated by numerous people it’s an upper-body injury."

Vols’ conditioning secret to second-half success – Jonathan Toye of USA TODAY Network

"Hands on the hips. Eyes staring straight up at the sky. Players struggling to catch their breath. They are expressions of fatigue from an opponent. When the Vols spot these symptoms, that’s when they know it’s time to increase the tempo."

Vols soccer beats LSU 3-1 – UTSports

"Tennessee used a balanced scoring attack to dispatch LSU, 3-1, on Thursday night in Baton Rouge to earn its third SEC victory of the year.Hannah Wilkinson, Carlyn Baldwin and Michele Christy all scored for the Volunteers (8-6, 3-3 SEC) as they recorded their most goals in a conference game this season."
