Phillip Fulmer assisting Gatlinburg victims, Vols recruiting, and soccer awards headline the Volunteers news on Rocky Top for Friday, Dec. 2, 2016.

Happy first Friday in December! With the holiday season now in full swing and conference championship week beginning, Rocky Top is still thinking about the victims of the East Tennessee wildfires.

And that still leads the news in the area.

It has reached Vols athletics as well, so we’ll get to some of it here. As we get set to bring you today’s news on Rocky Top heading into the weekend, basketball season is ramping up, and football news is still taking shape even with bowl games a month away.

Recruiting and a former football coach are part of that news.

And we’ll begin with that.

Phillip Fulmer donates Vols gear to wildfire evacuees – Brandon Bates of WBIR

"Ever since wildfires forced hundreds to evacuate Gatlinburg and Sevier County there has been an outpouring of support for the evacuees.Some of the donations handed out on Thursday came from a source familiar to big orange fans."

Tennessee offers Top247 quarterback – Ryan Callahan of 247Sports

"Top247 junior quarterback Justin Rogers of Parkway High School in Bossier City, La., posted on his Twitter account that he received a scholarship offer from Tennessee on Tuesday.“Blessed to say I have received an offer from Tennessee #GBO #Vols,” he tweeted.The 6-foot-4, 195-pound Rogers is one of two Top247 quarterbacks in the 2018 class who picked up offers from the Vols on Tuesday, along with Oregon commitment Colson Yankoff of Coeur d’Alene (Idaho) High School."

Wilkinson, O’Keefe & Neal Earn NSCAA All-Region Honors UTSports

"Three Tennessee soccer players have earned NSCAA All-South Region honors for the 2016 season as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America on Thursday. UT’s three selections are its most since also have three players earn all-region honors in 2007.Star forward Hannah Wilkinson (first team), super sophomore midfielder Rylie O’Keefe (second team) and redshirt freshman defender Maya Neal (third team) were the three Volunteer players recognized."
