Larry Scott’s support, Donnie Tyndall’s lawsuit, and Tennessee Vols baseball and basketball games headline the Volunteers news for Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017.

It’s the final Wednesday in the month of February. That means spring practice is just around the corner for the Tennessee Vols, and there’s excitement in the air.

On top of that, Tennessee basketball is getting down to the stretch of its season, and Tennessee baseball is underway. Both of those sports join football in the news we’re set to bring you on Rocky Top for today.

As we get set to bring you today’s news, coaches are the story of the day. Support for an assistant coach in his new position and a lawsuit by a former coach are the interesting stories.

There are also a couple of previews of games tonight to bring you.

But, as always, let’s start with the football.

Tennessee basketball to face Vanderbilt Commodores Wednesday night – UTSports

Coming off of a 20-point victory over the Missouri Tigers this past Saturday, Tennessee Basketball is now 15-12 overall and just outside of the Top 50 of the RPI. The Vanderbilt Commodores are 14-13 overall and at No. 49 in the RPI. That makes this a huge game with NCAA Tournament implications. The Vols beat Vanderbilt in Nashville earlier in the year. Now they have to do the same thing at home.

"Both the Vols (15-12, 7-7 SEC) and Commodores (14-13, 7-7 SEC) enter the regular season’s penultimate week coming off of wins. UT snapped a two-game skid on Saturday, picking up a 90-70 win over Missouri behind 25 points from freshman Grant Williams and 21 points from senior Robert Hubbs III. Meanwhile, Vanderbilt grabbed a 71-62 victory over then-No. 21 South Carolina in Nashville."
