Tennessee basketball is set to face the Georgia Bulldogs in the second round of the men’s SEC Tournament. Here is the preview for the Volunteers and Dawgs.

After a terrible finish to the season that caused them to go from a Top 40 RPI team to completely off the bubble, the Tennessee Vols now look for one final chance to make the NCAA Tournament with the SEC Tournament.

The Vols open the tournament as the No. 9 seed and will face the No. 8 seed Georgia Bulldogs Thursday afternoon, another bubble team whose head coach, Mark Fox, appears to be on the hot seat.

At 16-15, a win Thursday would help the Vols at least come a little bit closer to guaranteeing themselves a finish above .500.

But to assure that they would have to win the next game, which will be against the Kentucky Wildcats.

Here is all the information you need for this SEC Tournament Second Round game between the Vols and Bulldogs.

Tennessee Volunteers vs Georgia Bulldogs

When: Thursday, March 9 at 1 p.m.

Where: Bridgestone Arena; Nashville, Tenn.

TV: SEC Network

Live Stream: WatchESPN

Line: Georgia -1.5

Right now, Tennessee basketball is nowhere on the NCAA Tournament bubble. However, despite their record, they are still in the Top 80 of the RPI with the No. 21 ranked strength of schedule.

Should they beat the Georgia Bulldogs Thursday and then upset the Kentucky Wildcats Friday, they could take a significant jump.

They don’t necessarily have to win the SEC Tournament as a result.

Those two wins would put them back on the bubble, and a win on Saturday, if the opponent was worthy, would help them even further.

However, they first have to get past the Dawgs.
