The start of spring practice along with the women’s basketball Tennessee Vols being eliminated lead the Volunteers news for Tuesday, March 21, 2017.

It’s poetic timing in a sad way. One Tennessee Vols season ends, and a look ahead to another season begins.

As we get set to bring you the news on Rocky Top, that’s the news for this Tuesday, the first day of the year in which there is more sunlight than darkness.

Tennessee football getting back on the field is obviously the most exciting thing for Vol Nation.

However, the Lady Vols’ season coming to an end is a source of frustration for those in Knoxville at the same time.

Tennessee Vols set to begin spring practice – Rhiannon Potkey, Knoxville News Sentinel

Tennessee football is set to begin spring practice for the 2017 season today. On Monday, Butch Jones released injury reports, position updates, and other news surrounding the program ahead of the start of spring ball.

"Eight players will not participate in spring practice for the University of Tennessee football team because of injuries.UT coach Butch Jones said Monday defensive backs Micah Abernathy and Rashaan Gaulden, defensive linemen Kyle Phillips, Kendal Vickers and Shy Tuttle, wide receivers Josh Smith and Brandon Johnson and offensive lineman Brett Kendrick will be sidelined this spring."

Louisville eliminates Lady Vols from NCAA Tournament – Patrick Murray, WBIR

The Tennessee Lady Vols lost a game in the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history. The loss came thanks to a collapse in the early part of the fourth quarter.

"The Lady Vols season came to an end in the second round of the NCAA Tournament thanks to a 75-64 defeat at the hands of host Louisville.This marks only the second time in program history that Tennessee failed to reach the Sweet Sixteen."

Tennessee Vols golf moves into second at Kingsmill – UTSports

"Redshirt freshman Nolan Ray climbed to fifth place and junior Lorenzo Scalise jumped 27 spots into a tie for ninth as the Tennessee men’s golf team moved up to second place on Monday in the second round of the Kingsmill Intercollegiate at Kingsmill Resort."
