Former Tennessee Volunteers and current Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Joshua Dobbs was at Game One of the NHL Stanley Cup supporting the Penguins.

The 2017 Stanley Cup Final features two teams with a direct connection to Joshua Dobbs. So it makes since that the former Vols quarterback would make an appearance at the first game.

Dobbs was spotted wearing a Pittsburgh Penguins jersey with Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster.

Smith-Schuster posted a pic of them on his Twitter account.

And Dobbs also tweeted his own pic of him at the game.

Pittsburgh won the first game 5-3.

Of course, playing for the Steelers now, it makes sense that Dobbs would be at the game rooting for the Penguins. But he could have just as easily been rooting for the other team, the Nashville Predators.

After all, the Predators are the team closest to his hometown in Alpharetta, Ga., and he did play college football in the state of Tennessee for four years.

So he has solid connections to the Predators.

But it looks like he’s embracing his new Pittsburgh connection with this jersey. Smith-Schuster was also clearly rooting for his team’s hometown NHL team as well.

Considering the fact that a large portion of Tennessee football fans rooting for the Preds right now likely never cared about hockey before these playoffs, they have no reason to feel too hurt over this.

After all, Dobbs never actually lived or played in the city of Nashville.

So nobody should be upset about him being at this game in a Penguins jersey. Half of hockey fans in Tennessee probably prefer the Penguins to the Predators anyway.

So nothing should sting about this at all.
