Upgrades to Neyland Stadium, Phillip Fulmer comments, and a women’s Tennessee Vols assistant leaving lead the Volunteers news for Friday, June 16, 2017.

Happy Friday to Vol Nation! There are exactly two weeks left in the month of June, and plenty is going on right now for the Tennessee Vols.

Our updates on Rocky Top today revolve around football for the most part, but there is  a Tennessee Lady Vols story to get to as well.

Let’s start, though, with Neyland stadium.

Painting underway at Neyland Stadium – John Currie, UTSports

John Currie wrote a letter to Tennessee Vols fans on updates about the program and touched on many basic details. One of the things he mentioned, though, was a three-year $3 million project to paint Neyland Stadium that has now begun. He also talked about other upgrades to the stadium.

"Of course, this is kind of like painting the Golden Gate Bridge–you start on one end, and by the time you get to the other end it’s time to start at the beginning again. Work is underway on the backside of the south end upper deck and on the video board structure, with additional work set to take place on the east and upper north areas. Thanks to those who work in the buildings around the stadium for their patience during this process."

Phillip Fulmer high on Butch Jones’s staff changes – Mike Griffith, SEC Country

After going on Erik Ainge’s radio show, the former Tennessee Vols coach did an exclusive with SEC Country. He said that Butch Jones’s staff changes could be just the spark the team needs.

"“The coaching changes give him a great opportunity, and it’s not like this team is coming from nowhere, they had a pretty good season,” Fulmer said. “This can put him over the hump and that’s what everyone wants.“That’s what Butch is trying to do, to take it to a championship level. The coaching experience he has hired around him is obvious, and it should project on the field.”"

Lady Vols assistant leaving – Dan Fleser, Knoxville News Sentinel

Tennessee Lady Vols assistant Jolette Law is leaving for the South Carolina Gamecocks. One of the most instrumental recruiters for the program, Law is a huge loss for Holly Warlick and her team.

"The coaching hire came the week after South Carolina announced that Tennessee transfer Te’a Cooper was joining the Gamecocks. The redshirt sophomore point guard will sit out next season and have two seasons of eligibility left.Law, who is from Florence, S.C., joined UT coach Holly Warlick’s staff in May 2012 after serving as head coach at Illinois."
