Former Tennessee football head coach Phillip Fulmer was introduced into his new role as special adviser for the Volunteers. Here’s his press conference.

Phillip Fulmer made it clear with his new role. He’s all in on trying to bring the university back together.

The Tennessee Vols and president Joe DiPietro introduced Phillip Fulmer in a press conference as the new special adviser to the president for the school.

Given the controversy behind the athletic director hire earlier this year, Fulmer made a point to say that it’s time they come together. He also added that he has no animosity about not being named athletic director.

So it’s clear that his goal long-term is to serve the university. With all that, here’s a look at the introductory press conference.

And in response, here are quote from new Vols athletic director John Currie on Phillip Fulmer’s new role.

Given the controversy behind the A.D., it does seem that Fulmer and Currie are working to come together for the benefit of the university. And it seems to be working.

It’s clear Currie is supportive of the move, and while he still has a lot to prove, at least he’s thinking about what’s best for the Tennessee Vols.
