Phillip Fulmer on two quarterbacks, Christian Coleman’s letter to the Tennessee Vols, and James Daniel lead the Volunteers news for Tuesday, June 20, 2017.

We have 10 days left in the month of June, and this athletic school year is finally close to coming to an end. Meanwhile, there is plenty of Tennessee Vols news to bring to you for today.

Our updates on Rocky Top for today includes more Phillip Fulmer news following up on his comments defending Butch Jones last week.

We also have a letter that one living legend left for UT. And Tennessee basketball also gets on her too with the injury update of a new Vol who transferred from elsewhere.

Let’s start with the Fulmer story.

Phillip Fulmer comments on Tennessee Vols two quarterbacks – Mike Griffith, SEC Country

Former Tennessee Vols head coach Phillip Fulmer weighed in on the quarterback battle between Jarrett Guarantano and Quinten Dormady. He noted that two quarterbacks can work, but they probably need to be different, and it’s difficult.

"Fulmer, conducting his youth camp at Rocky Top Sports World last week, spoke exclusively with SEC Country about Tennessee’s ongoing quarterbacks battle.“Butch will handle that fine,” said Fulmer, a confidant of Jones. “You’ve got a guy that can throw it and seems more consistent (Quinten Dormady), and another guy that is very talented and can throw it, too (Jarrett Guarantano).”"

Christian Coleman writes letter to Tennessee Vols – UTSports

Tennessee track star Christian Coleman has made the decision to turn pro after one of the most historic years in track and field history. But he didn’t do with out a very touching acknowledgment of UT in a letter he wrote for the school.

"Deciding on becoming a professional athlete was not an easy decision to make, mostly because of the tremendous amount of love and support I have received from Vol Nation. I know for a fact that I would not be the same person, let alone athlete, if I had not decided to attend Tennessee. I cannot thank the school enough."

Updates on Tennessee basketball newcomer James Daniel – Grant Ramey, GoVols247

Tennessee Vols newcomer James Daniel III, a graduate transfer who came from the Howard Bison, is still trying to recover from an ankle injury that sidelined him during his senior season at Howard. As a result, he can’t play in the Rocky Top League this summer. However, he should be ready to go for the season.

"There’s no concern from Tennessee’s training staff or from Daniel himself that the recovery from the injury — a chipped bone in his ankle originally diagnosed as a high-ankle sprain — will cost him anytime with the Vols."
