Tennessee football recruiting is in the running for 2018 four-star linebacker Cameron McGrone out of Indianapolis, who put the Volunteers in his top six.

With the exception of the Michigan Wolverines and Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Tennessee football is in great position to land an elite Indiana outside linebacker.

Cameron McGrone out of Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis trimmed his choices to six on Monday.

The Vols were still there, along with Michigan, Notre Dame, and the Wisconsin Badgers. Two much less elite school were also in play. One was the Indiana Hoosiers, which makes sense as an in-state school. However, the other is another Tennessee school, the Vanderbilt Commodores.

McGrone announced his top six on Twitter.

A four-star on Rivals, McGrone is the No. 4 ranked player in the state of Indiana and the No. 16 ranked player nationally at his position.

Landing him would be huge for Tennessee football, which still has much more work to do to take this recruiting class national.

Of the 247Sports Cyrstal Ball predictions made on him, though, seven predictors have him going to Notre Dame while three have him going to Michigan.

That means the Vols have a major uphill battle to climb.

But with Vanderbilt in play, he clearly has something drawing him to the state of Tennessee. And that could serve Butch Jones and Co. well.
