Josh Dobbs is clearly not going to be the starter this year for the Pittsburgh Steelers with Ben Roethlisberger still on the team.

But given Roethlisberger’s history as an injury prone quarterback, the ineffectiveness of his recent backups, and the fact that he’s getting old and could retire soon, fighting for the second string spot is more crucial this year than ever before for a Steelers backup.

And it looks like the former Vols quarterback is taking his role seriously.

Okay, it wasn’t much. In fact, it was actually a little weird. But hey, promotion and getting your name out there matter if you want a shot at the NFL.

After all, fans calling for your name is one of the biggest ways you can get your shot. So why not promote yourself as much as possible?

That’s what Josh Dobbs is doing.

He is well-known and respected for his work ethic, which Tennessee fans loved him for as well. So that should really help him as he tries to get onto the field.

But he still has to move past Landry Jones, who won’t give up that second string spot at quarterback so easily.

As he builds on his physical attributes, you can also bet that Dobbs is working on his mental attributes as well.
