The Tennessee Vols on the SEC Network, ESPYS recap and the Ray Guy Award watch list lead the Volunteers news for Thursday, July 13, 2017.

What a night it was on Wednesday! Tennessee Vols fans likely stayed up to watch Peyton Manning host the ESPYS and enjoy all the laughs.

And then there was plenty of news related to the school to come out.

As we get set to bring you the news on Rocky Top, the ESPYS will be a topic of conversation. But there’s also an SEC Network takeover to look forward to for the Vols.

And another Vol is on a preseason watch list. Let’s start with the Vols’ SEC Network takeover.

SEC Network to devote July 18 entirely to Tennessee Vols – UTSports

Every year, the SEC Network devotes one full day in the summer to each school in the conference. For Tennessee, that day will be Tuesday, July 18. The network will air last year’s football games vs Florida and Georgia, the men’s basketball win over Kentucky, the women’s basketball win at South Carolina, and the 1999 Fiesta Bowl along with other games.

"Featured content on that day includes memorable Tennessee football, basketball, baseball, softball and volleyball victories. Descriptions of those games can be found below. Network documentaries focused on Condredge Holloway and Pat Summitt are also scheduled to air."

Tennessee Vols make mark at ESPYS – ESPN

Peyton Manning was the star of the 25th annual ESPYS as the host and made numerous hilarious jokes. But he wasn’t the only Tennessee-related star Wednesday. Candace Parker won her third Best WNBA Player ESPY and also commemorated Pat Summitt’s influence on her.

"From the jokes by host Peyton Manning to the stories of inspiration by sports fans such as Jarrius Robertson, there were plenty of smiles — and even some tears — at the 25th ESPYS on Wednesday night in Los Angeles. Many of the world’s best athletes packed into the Microsoft Theater for the annual awards show, and by night’s end, some familiar names took center stage."

Trevor Daniel on Ray Guy Award Preseason Watch List – Ray Guy Award Press Release

Tennessee Vols punter Trevor Daniel shocked the world when he won the starting job at punter as a redshirt walk-on sophomore in 2015. Now, entering his senior year, he has expectations to continue the Punter-U tradition in Knoxville. And that includes being one of the 29 candidates on the award’s preseason watch list.

"The number of eligible candidates for this season will grow when the award opens nominations in September. The complete list of candidates will be released on October 31. In early November, the Ray Guy Award committee will meet to select the ten semifinalists, who will be announced on November 16."
