Tennessee football quarterback Quinten Dormady isn’t getting respect yet. 247Sports ranked the Volunteers junior near the bottom among projected starters.

They expect him to start, but they don’t expect much out of him…at least not yet. Barton Simmons of 247Sports ranked Tennessee football quarterback Quinten Dormady No. 13 among 14 SEC quarterbacks he is projecting to start.

The only person below him was Nick Starkel of the Texas A&M Aggies.

Barton Simmons is the one who did the rankings.

Dormady is locked in a quarterback battle with Jarrett Guarantano right now. He is the favorite to win the job.

Here’s what Simmons said about him.

"Dormady is largely an unknown but he’s also somebody that I ranked as a four-star coming out of high school. He’s plenty talented and reviews from spring practice have been positive. He could rise as high as ninth on this list by the end of his junior season. Anything above that would be a surprise — and great news for Tennessee."

A pure pocket passer, Dormady has spent the pass two years as Joshua Dobbs‘s backup quarterback and right now is clearly the most ready to seize the reigns.

However, Butch Jones and the offensive staff have not yet named a full-time starter. And that leads to skepticism among many.

Still, Dormady has shown a deadly accurate arm and was once a four-star recruit out of Texas, so there’s no questioning the fact that he can play quarterback at a high level.

So right now, there’s a lack of respect for him that simply shouldn’t be there. He has shown no signs of being unable to keep Tennessee football at the level it was at with Dobbs. Heck, he could perhaps even take it to a higher level.

And the unkown excuse is unfair when Jarrett Stidham of the Auburn Tigers came in at No. 3 on the list. The guy has never played a snap of SEC football, as he transferred from the Baylor Bears.

Meanwhile, Notre Dame transfer Malik Zaire, nwow of the Florida Gators, is also ahead of Dormady. So the guy should have lots of motivation this year.
