Tennessee basketball recruiting for 2018 is underway, and Rick Barnes and the Volunteers are pursuing three-star Georgia power forward Amanze Ngumezi.

Skilled big men have been a focus of Tennessee basketball for Rick Barnes, and he’s going after another power forward for 2018.

The Vols offered Amanze Ngumezi on Sunday.

A three-star on Rivals, Ngumezi comes out of C A Johnson high school in Savannah, Ga. He stands at 6’9″ and 235 pounds.

Ngumezi announced that he received the offer on Twitter.

Ngumezi has received offers from numerous SEC schools, and the offer to him is a clear example of Barnes thinking ahead.

Kyle Alexander, Grant Williams and Admiral Schofield make up a solid interior roster now, but he clearly wants to keep a revolving door going. There’s no better spot than Georgia to make sure that happens.

The inside is clearly a focus for Barnes in 2018 as, according to GoVols247, he has offered two other power forwards for that year as well.

Of course, right now the team only has one senior in transfer James Daniel III for this year. So there won’t be many offers to go out next year unless the team is so good that players leave early.

And that doesn’t seem too likely to happen. What is likely, though, is that Barnes will continue to build the length for the Vols in Knoxville. And he deserves credit for not showing any satisfaction until he gets the team he wants.
