Tennessee football recruiting needs secondary help for 2018. The Volunteers are in the top six for four-star Florida cornerback Stanley Garner.

Tennessee football will lose five guys in the secondary after this year alone, so the Vols desperately need to add as many defensive backs as possible in the near future.

They did add five defensive backs in the 2017 class, but they could do more. And with two defensive backs already in the 2018 class, including 2018 four-stat Brendon Harris, they got one step closer to receiving a boost from another talent.

Stanley Garner out of Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale named the Vols in his top six earlier this week. A four-star on Rivals, Garner put the Vols in his top six along with the Michigan Wolverines, the Clemson Tigers, the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Louisville Cardinals, and the Kentucky Wildcats.

He announced his top six on Twitter.

Garner has a unique size for a cornerback at 6’3″ 180 pounds. The 247Sports Crystal Ball has listed no predictions or favorites yet, so the Vols could be as much in play as anybody.

Here is a look at his highlight reel.

As you can see, in addition to his incredible size, he can run people down and does a great job reading where the ball is going. He needs to work on some of his fundamentals in one on one coverage, including turning at the right time, but he clearly has talent.

With the Florida pipeline Butch Jones is trying to build, the Vols could have a chance with Garner. But it will take some work to land him.
