Tennessee football recruiting is already working on 2019. The Volunteers are in the top six for four-star Kentucky defensive tackle Jacob Lacey.

Butch Jones doesn’t stop recruiting on the defensive line for Tennessee football. Despite trying to put together one of the greatest classes in history for that unit in 2018, he’s already focusing on what he can do there in 2019.

And he got good news on that front when defensive tackle Jacob Lacey named the Vols in his top six.

Lacey, a four-star on Rivals for 2019, named the Vols in his top six along with the Clemson Tiger, Louisville Cardinals, Michigan Wolverines, Michigan State Spartans and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

He made his announcement on Twitter.

At 6’2″ 295 pounds, Lacey comes out of South Warren High School in Bowling Green, Ky. Here is a look at his highlight reel.

As you can see, a lot of what he does is jumping on the play and taking the right angle, immediately snuffing out where the play is going.

Smarts like that are always useful. Add in the fact that he will only get smarter and more athletic, and he has a huge ceiling. That’s especially true since he could put on even more weight before it’s all over.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball has Notre Dame as the overwhelming favorite to land him with Louisville and Clemson also in the mix.

But there’s no reason to think the Vols don’t have a chance. After all, Tennessee is a border state to Kentucky as well.
