Former Vols quarterbacks Peyton Manning, Joshua Dobbs and Heath Shuler were all at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium for their game against Georgia Tech.

The three quarterbacks to achieve the most national recognition of the past 40 years for Tennessee football were all in Atlanta Monday. Peyton Manning, Josh Dobbs and Heath Shuler arrived to watch their alma mater take on the Yellow Jackets.

The three were part of a group that clearly was pumped for this game. After all, Vols fans filled the new stadium for the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Classic.

Dobbs, who just graduated, could be seen on the sidelines speaking with Quinten Dormady at times. Obviously, he’s the only one who actually played for Butch Jones.

But Manning and Shuler were the stars of the 1990s for the Vols. All three of them could be seen together in one picture.

Of course, Shuler is one of the greatest busts in NFL history while Peyton Manning is one of the greatest ever. Dobbs’s outlook at the professional level is still up in the air, but he progressed dramatically this preseason.

And hey, Shuler did go on to become a United States Congressman. So he had success in his own way, even if it wasn’t on the field.

The Vols opened this game looking for another player to carry the mantle left by these legends. But whether or not Quinten Dormady or Jarrett Guarantano becomes the star quarterback, they certainly have a great support system with these guys keeping their connection to the program.
