The Tennessee Volunteers are near the bottom of our SEC Power Rankings following Week 4 of the 2017 college football season.

Well, the top four teams from our SEC Power Rankings last week all played each other this week. And after the games, it’s pretty easy to point out that there are two clear-cut teams standing above everybody else in the conference.

And there’s also a clear team at the bottom. But everybody else? No. 13 on this list could probably compete with No. 3.

Our SEC Power Rankings for this week have become a complete cluster as a result. The parity runs deep here, and they really do beat up on each other.

However, unlike previous years, this isn’t really a compliment to the conference. Many of these teams are bad teams and have just moved into the conference’s upper-echelon as a result of other teams being worse.

That makes these power rankings more difficult to deal with than they ever have been. There are some teams in the 3-to-7 range that do not have our respect at all. It’s just that somebody has to occupy those spots.

Spoiler alert, only two teams have our respect this week. Anybody else who gets on that list is going to have to earn it.

So now, we organize what appears to be a large collection of highly mediocre teams, two good ones and one bad one. Let’s go ahead and start with the worst team in our SEC Power Rankings following Week 4 of the 2017 college football season.
