Bret Bielema may have the hottest seat in the SEC now ahead of Butch Jones after the Arkansas Razorbacks again invented a way to lose to the Texas A&M Aggies. And they did it coming off a bye week!

This is another team you could make a case should be lower in our SEC Power Rankings. However, Arkansas’s two losses are to a really good TCU Horned Frogs team and in overtime to a decent Texas A&M team.

That’s more impressive than South Carolina’s or Tennessee’s 3-1 records. And their overtime loss is more impressive than those two teams’ hideous wins last week.

As a result, the Razorbacks are going to be higher in our rankings. However, it’s not good news for this team.

Austin Allen has not been the efficient quarterback Bielema needed to help him run this system, and the defense keeps getting gashed by faster offenses. Now in his fifth year, Bielema should be called out for not fixing those issues yet.

He’s got a light week against the New Mexico State Aggies to get things somewhat back on track. But then the Razorbacks have a brutal slate with three road trips in four weeks against the South Carolina Gamecocks, Alabama Crimson Tide and Ole Miss Rebels. And their one home game is against the Auburn Tigers.

So this is their last tune-up game before the brutal stretch run for this team begins. And things do not look good for them right now. But it is a long season. And they have enough horses to stay in games.
