The Texas A&M Aggies fell in our SEC Power Rankings only because they have more to prove, but it looks like they are starting to get things back on track. Although a win over the Arkansas Razorbacks doesn’t seem like much for now, the way they won was a much-needed morale boost.

And this team has been playing pretty solid ever since the second half of their previous game. So Kevin Sumlin’s guys are all of a sudden in pretty good shape, and he’s one bad quarter away from being undefeated right now.

Kellen Mond has really found himself in this system. The offense is finally playing well. However, the defense is still an issue.

That unit that allowed UCLA’s ridiculous comeback also allowed an Arkansas team that scored seven points against the TCU Horned Frogs drop 43 on them. And as we mentioned in the previous slide, the defense should have lost that game.

Bret Bielema and his staff just managed to give it away, almost similar to Butch Jones and Co. over at Tennessee.

So if former Vols defensive coordinator John Chavis’s unit can’t improve fast, Sumlin’s hot seat will still be hot.

The South Carolina Gamecocks at home this weekend is a must-win game. After that, the Alabama Crimson Tide come to town. It’s hard to imagine A&M winning that game, but they need to make sure they don’t let it kill their morale the way it has in previous seasons. If they can do that, maybe they will turn this season around.
