The Florida Gators should be 0-3 right now and near the bottom of our SEC Power Rankings. But while Jim McElwain suffers from all these suspensions and continues to try to coach away games, his opponents’ coaches somehow manage to give him the win anyway.

This time, Mark Stoops’s staff forgot that cornerbacks are supposed to cover wide receivers. So the Gators scored a last-minute touchdown to keep their winning streak alive over the Kentucky Wildcats, winning 28-27.

Of course, the week before they won off of a Hail Mary because Butch Jones’s staff didn’t know about prevent defense, the quarterback sneak, or running the ball inside the 10-yard line.

So McElwain’s team is 2-1 and 2-0 in the SEC with two divisional wins, sitting pretty right now.

The one thing working in Florida’s favor is they may have their quarterback in Luke Del Rio. Del Rio was clearly better than Feleipe Franks or Malik Zaire, so the offense could begin to pick up now.

We’ll find out soon enough if it does.

Florida has its toughest stretch run coming up with the Vanderbilt Commodores, LSU Tigers, Texas A&M Aggies and Georgia Bulldogs next up on the slate. And none of those games are on the road, which works significantly in their favor.

So they’re about to have plenty of chances to move up in our SEC Power Rankings. But they haven’t done anything to warrant that yet.

Having two teams coach away games to you doesn’t mean you are good. So we’re not ready to give Florida too much credit yet.
