The Tennessee Vols’ offensive line rotation and Derek Barnett’s first sack with the Eagles lead the Volunteers news for Friday, Oct. 13, 2017.

Happy Friday the 13th! If you’re a Tennessee Vols football fan, it seems like it’s been Friday the 13th for three weeks now.

But Rocky Top is set to be back in action this weekend, and Vols fans hope to boost the morale of the program. We’ve covered extensively all week the details surrounding Tennessee football’s return to the field Saturday.

Today’s news is actually a bit lighter. Our focus involves the rotation of one unit on the Vols. Outside of that, we have news surrounding a former player to bring you.

And there’s a look ahead to a game in another sport. But let’s first start with current players on the football team.

Tennessee Vols to keep same offensive line rotation – Wes Rucker, GoVols247

For the first time this year, Butch Jones is expected to start the same five offensive linemen in the same five spots for the second consecutive game. That includes Drew Richmond at left tackle, Brett Kendrick at left guard, Jashon Robertson at center, Trey Smith at right guard and Marcus Tatum at right tackle. Of course, it didn’t work too well against the Georgia Bulldogs. Maybe this game will be different.

"As much as Jones wants continuity up front, though, the coach said another trait — physicality — will be the key against a South Carolina defense that scored three touchdowns in last week’s win over Arkansas. That physicality has eluded the Vols at times this season, and Jones said that can’t happen again against the Gamecocks."

Derek Barnett records first sack of NFL career – Paul Hudrick, NBC Sports Philadelphia

He made huge splashes in the preseason, but former Tennessee Vols defensive end Derek Barnett could not get over the hump and get that first sack for the Philadelphia Eagles in the regular season. That finally changed Thursday night. Barnett picked up a sack on Cam Newton in Philly’s 28-23 win over the Carolina Panthers.

"This had to feel great for Barnett. Funny enough, after winning so many battles and coming up empty, Barnett loses early on this down. But as he’s done all season, he doesn’t give up on the play."

Tennessee soccer to host Georgia Bulldogs Friday – UTSports

The Tennessee Vols soccer team will host the Georgia Bulldogs Friday night. Ranked No. 19 in the country, this should be another win, as the Dawgs are winless in the SEC right now.

"The Vols (12-1-1, 4-1-1 SEC) won both matches last week, defeating Ole Miss in a high-scoring battle 6-4 and rallying to defeat Missouri 3-2 on the road. Junior Khadija Shaw earned SEC Offensive Player of the Week and Top Drawer Soccer Player of the Week honors after scoring two goals and two assists during the week."
