The Tennessee Volunteers fell down another spot in our SEC Power Rankings following Week 8 of the 2017 college football season.

The craziness and apathy continues in Knoxville. After the Tennessee Vols lost in blowout fashion again to the Alabama Crimson Tide, Butch Jones’s days appear numbered. And the impact it’s having on the players slowly continues to drop them in our SEC Power Rankings.

Overall, it was a fairly uneventful weekend in the Southeastern Conference. Numerous teams had byes, and then there were just blowouts. It made things a big easier for us to do these rankings this week.

After all, with just one game left to play in October, we have a pretty good idea which teams are the class of the conference.

As we get set to bring you our SEC Power Rankings following Week 8, things have largely stabilized. Of course, they could change in a heartbeat this weekend. But nothing was too much out of the ordinary last week.

For the first time in a while, there were no dramatic jumps. Only two teams have morale completely in the dumps. One team did gain a jolt in morale, but they still have a lot more work to do.

The clear national title contenders remain. And the rest of the league is just a complete cluster.

After five teams had bye weeks last week, only three have them this week. So we’ll get even a better idea of how the rankings are next week. And there are also more chances to shake them up.

But for now, this is what we have to go on. So let’s take a look at them. With Jones’s time in Knoxville as tumultuous as ever, these are our SEC Power Rankings following Week 8 of the 2017 college football season.
