Despite starting 2-4, the Arkansas Razorbacks had a chance to show some type of life this past weekend. After all, Bret Bielema’s team was hosting the Auburn Tigers.

Auburn was coming off a heartbreaking loss to the LSU Tigers that pretty much ruined any national title hopes they had. Meanwhile, Arkansas was perfectly positioned to force a down Auburn team to play its game, running the clock and getting physical.

It didn’t happen. Gus Malzahn’s team returned to form with ease, and all it showed was how far the Razorbacks have fallen. That loss was so bad that they had to remain last place in our SEC Power Rankings.

I keep saying that people are sleeping on the fact that Aransas, not Missouri, has been the worst team in the conference for a while. And they continue to prove me right.

This is why Bielema’s seat should be in jeopardy as much as anybody’s despite the ridiculous buyout. The only thing worthy this team has done all year is push the Texas A&M Aggies to overtime.

They have another tough game this week at the Ole Miss Rebels, and there’s no reason to believe they’ll win that game. Coastal Carolina comes next, so that at least gets the Hogs to three wins. But after that, they still have to face the LSU Tigers and Mississippi State Bulldogs.

And a close-out game against the Missouri Tigers is at home, but that could be a completely different and resurgent Mizzou team. So Arkansas could be in trouble.
