The Tennessee Volunteers remain in the bottom three of the SEC Power Rankings following Week 11 of the 2017 college football season.

It was a weekend of major happenings down south, and they all had an impact on our SEC Power Rankings. Most notable among them were the fact that the Vols fired Butch Jones and the Auburn Tigers significantly hurt the conference’s chances of two teams reaching the College Football Playoff.

On top of that, there was an epic night game between two of the elite teams in the conference. And a couple of other big wins now opens up the prospect of 10 teams reaching bowl eligibility.

Eight have already gotten there. Two more are one win away and looking to get there amidst a difficult final stretch. That makes these SEC Power Rankings more exciting than ever.

The result of this past weekend brings us a new No. 1 team with two weeks left in the 2017 regular season. We also have a new team in the top two.

Meanwhile, the bottom four is as clear as it has ever been, as is the bottom two, and the next two weeks don’t give any signs of it changing. As long as they keep losing, we’ll just be reordering them in the same level of our SEC Power Rankings.

The big story, though, remains at the top. Can the conference get two teams in? Is there a clear top tier? Are there three teams with the chance to reach the College Football Playoff now?

Only two ridiculously unlikely upsets this year keep us from being sure of three teams in the playoff race and being sure of at least nine SEC teams reaching bowl games with a 10th in the hunt this weekend.

But that’s why you play the game. So let’s get to how everybody in the conference stacks up against each other. These are our SEC Power Rankings following Week 11 of the 2017 college football season.
